
Growth in Understanding and Perspective

Exploring my inquiry question significantly expended my understanding and perspective of the role of technology in education. At the beginning of this course and my inquiry process, I approached generative AI and established digital platforms as separate categories of tools. I evaluated them individually first focusing on their features, strengths, and weaknesses. However, as my inquiry progressed, I began to see them as interconnected components within a broader instructional ecosystem.
Analyzing digital educational platforms such as Scratch, Khan Academy, Prodigy, and DreamBox allowed me to better understand how digital tools can support creativity, structured instruction, gamified engagement, and adaptive learning. Exploring AI lesson generators shifted my perspective toward teacher workflow and planning efficiency. Bringing these ideas together helped me see how thoughtful integration can enhance both instructional design and student experience.
Developing a Critical and Balanced View

One of the most valuable outcomes of this inquiry, was developing a more balanced and critical view of educational technology. Initially, it was easy to focus on the excitement and innovation surrounding generative AI. The ability to generate full lesson outlines within seconds is impressive. However, deeper evaluation revealed the importance of questioning accuracy, inclusivity, and pedagogical soundness.
At the same time, examining established platforms reminded me that technology has long been shaping education. Adaptive programs such as DreamBox and Prodigy demonstrate how personalization can support differentiated learning. Scratch encourages creativity and computational thinking, showing that technology can foster higher order skills rather than just deliver content. This comparison helped me avoid viewing generative AI as revolutionary in isolation. Instead, it is one tool among many that must be used thoughtfully.
Looking Ahead as an Educator
Moving forward, as a future educator I see generative AI as a supportive planning partner rather than a primary instructional driver. It can assist with brainstorming ideas, organizing lessons, and identifying differentiation strategies. However, meaningful learning still depends on teacher expertise, intentional design, and authentic student engagement.

This inquiry reinforced that effective technology integration is not about using the newest or most advanced tool. It is about aligning tools with learning objectives, student needs, and inclusive practices. As educational technology continues to evolve, educators must remain reflective, adaptable, and critical in their approach.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this inquiry strengthened my understanding that technology in education should be purposeful, equitable, and student centered. Generative AI has strong potential to enhance efficiency and creativity, but its value depends entirely on how it is implemented. Through this process, I developed greater confidence in evaluating digital tools, considering their broader implications, and making informed decisions about their role in the classroom.
